In line with the growing global awareness OTL is pioneering a fresh approach to business, in which communities, environmental integrity, and innovation really matter. With this in mind OTL is drawing on cutting edge developmental, environmental and business thinking in pursuit of a business model which is good news for each person along the value chain.

The global market for sustainable wood replacement products is growing. With technology transfer from India and China OTL will produce quality Bamboo and Jute based products, drawing in a sustainable manner on resources from some of Bangladesh’s poorest rural communities. We are also researching business in Renewable Energy Applications, and in the future would like to develop business ventures in Food Processing, IT and Consultancy Services.

In Bangladesh, Oasis is also involved in community based initiatives under the auspices of Oasis Community Projects (OCP), these include initiatives involving vocational training, community health, informal education, anti-human trafficking initiatives, HIV/AIDS, and children at risk. Our business and community initiatives work together in an integrated way. An example of our commitment to this is that OTL will set-up business units in areas of the country in which there is significant family separation due to employment migration, and in those places where people are vulnerable to human trafficking due to unemployment.
